User administration while simulating

It seems however that I am unable to use the user administration functions I have built into my application. I am able to show the Logon Dialog, however after entering the User and Password, nothing happens. Is this functionality disabled while simulating? By the way, the user administration configuration I am using has been fully verified in the past on physical hardware so I am certain the problem lies with the simulation function.

You are running into the confusing way that Siemens decided to engineer the functionality. My response will not detail the alternative way to do things. Assuming you have a button that has a security setting: + Press the button + (Password dialog comes up) + Type in the correct password credentials + (Password dialog closes) + Press the button again + The button now does its task My guess: Siemens wants us to log the user in first before presenting functions that are password protected. This is not user friendly. There are ways of working around the problem. ~

Is there any script that generates cyclic passwords communicating the PLC? If something like that exists in the application, maybe in simulation it won't work. Once a user has logged in, there are certain objects with visibility animation that are then viewable. On hardware, I can log in a user and the items are visible. However, when simulating I can attempt to log in a user but the items are not visible (as if the user is not actually logged in). This is what leads me to wonder if there is something different when simulating. Can you confirm user administration should work exactly the same in simulation as on hardware?

I have done what you explain (provided I understand what you said) and have simulated it for KTP700s since TIA Portal V13 SP1. Consider placing a sample project here (as ZIP) if you want someone to assist you to look for the problem.

Murof Platinum Expert Joined: 8/3/2009 Last visit: 1/16/2026 Posts: 16644 Rating: (1944)	Hello The User Administration whould work the same on HW as in Simulation (WinCC Basic/Comfort/Advanced). The only difference is in loading. If you start Simulation then the User Administration will always be imported automatically as in engineering project. On a real Panel or RT you have to activate the downloading/overwriting of the Useradministration while loading the project to the Runtime. only then the Users are available in Runtime. Check with a userview control in your simulation if the user is logged in properly and in the correct group. Check also your task using the Usergrout for dynamisation of the visibility of the screen items you want to show or hide if a special user/usergroup is logged in.
