you have to differentiate between alarm classes and alarm groups!

alarm classes you can use for filters and so on in WinCC Basic/Comfort/Advanced and are made for selecting and filtering and also for settings like acknowledgement and colours...

Alarm groups are for multi acknowledge only.
If are some alarms in the same alarmgroup then you can acknowledge all current alarms of the same group in one step.

In WinCC Prof for example you can also filter with much more criteria but not in WinCC Basic/Comfort /Advanced.

In WinCC Professional RUntime the Alarm Control can filter with any of the alarm blocks.

alarmtext, time, Alarm classes and so on. you could also use some additional information in one of the usertext blocks.

If you are not sure how to then just go to the alarm control in engineering-> Properties-> Alarm Filter

Here you can create filter criteria by "clicking".

If you want to dynamise this filters in Runtime you can use the filter dialog in the Control or if you want to set it by script automatically then you can use something like this:
