this is a good solution. But you can only work with it in Comfort/Advanced. Basic Panels do not support Events in System alarms.

But luckily ak104956 has a comfort Panel

I'm currently having the same problem, but unfortunately I'm using the Basic panel KTP700 + S7-1200 PLC. 

Do you know if there is any other solution to trigger an alarm when communication with the PLC is lost (e.g. cable disconnected)?

thanks for replying. Yes, this is a way, but that doesn't do it for me. I should trigger an alarm if the communication is lost. It must be recorded in the alarms.
