Hello everyone ! I need your help ! 
I made an "Backup recipe" button, so operator can save current recipe to USB storage, and i need to add few features.
1) Is it possible to make an feedback between USB storage and HMI? So if there is no USB storage detected in socket, then backup recipe button cannot be activated. To be honest, i need help with code writing 
2) Should the USB storage always be cleaned/formatted before you start to upload backup from HMI, or there can be some troubles ? 

I'm using TIA Portal V17 update 3, Windows 10, WinCC advanced, Sinamics startdrive advanced

to check for usb you need to make a vbscript where when you press the backup button you first check whether usb exists then you backup the recipe.
Example script

dim f,MediaCheckCE

set f=createobject("Filectl.filesystem")

if f.dir("\Storage Card USB"_="" Then

MediaCheckCE=0 ' this means no usb found use it to show a message (Maybe via system messages)

' showsystemalarm "USB media not ready"

else 

mediacheckCe=1

end if

if mediacheckCE=1 then 

' backup of log goes here'

Cant help you on number 2 but i can help you should you want to clear the contents of usb before backing up in the same script.
