Hi,

Here I have created a new document about how to activate the WinCC runtime without opening the WinCC explorer and without configuring the autostart.

This is very useful to avoid the operater to get into the configuartion level of WinCC.

the method suggested looks impressive. but there are efforts invloved in the same. Some one has to click on The Shortcut icon else project wouldnt open.

I am sorry to ask this, actually this thread is how to open the wincc runtime directly without opening the explorer.

Can you please explain, how to get the file to open the runtime directly.

This functionality was something that I really was missing for a long time. Since Runtime-PCs aren't always only used for WinCC but sometimes for Different tasks (for example when the machine is in a standstill and not used its convenient to start the Runtime without restarting the PC or having to launch WinCC-Explorer.

And since WinCC-Versions V7.0 or 7.2 the integrated Autostart-Dialog is rather broken and buggy.

I am running a WinCC V7.3 project that is integrated with STEP7 and I followed the procedure in the .pdf attachment from the above post.  The shortcut was able to start my project in WinCCRT.  However, when I used the red "X" to close the project and tried to use the shortcut to re-open the project, it did not work.

I found that I had to try to restart or shutdown windows, then cancel the restart/shutdown when windows warned me that RT was still running.  Then I had to confirm shutting down RT.  Once RT was deactivated, the shortcut worked again.  Is there a way to re-open RT without having to deactivate it every time my project is closed in RT?

its not working in wincc 7.4 sp1

 It works, but veeeeeery slooooow. I have to wait 3-4 minutes before autostart window appears after clicking on shortcut. Core i5 4 gb RAM, 7200 rpm hdd.

It depends of application and kind of last shout down of the system.

When you kill WinCC RT it can run a lot longer than usual.

Anyway, you can try to use priority in Windows settings for CC processes.

I'm probably 13 years late 

I had the same problem and solved it successfully

1) Close wincc explorer without closing the project itself

2) open the start menu -> all programs -> siemens automation folder -> Simatic folder -> Wincc folder

3) right-click on wincc explorer -> open file location

4) Wincc/bin folder is opened -> right-click on PdllRt.exe -> send to desktop

5) Rename the shortcut (if you want), and use it to open the runtime directly
