I’ve been programming in TIA for a while now, and I don’t like the shortcuts.

With all other software I have custom keys that improve my effectiveness considerably.

However TIA is very restrictive in this manner:

• I can only pick shortcuts from a predefined list.

• There are two categories; Editor-Specific, and General. I am also restricted with my shortcut pick within the categories. Should I want to use “Ctrl+Q” this can only be done for one of the 88 options in general. The same is also true for the Editor-Specific Shortcuts.

TIA is the only software I have ever worked with that limits my productivity to the point of having to use my mouse and clicking on icons. As a VIM user this is very frustrating!

Is there a way to get around this, even just a little?

Hello VIM user. Do you have your VIM configured to code in SCL?..

Currently I am using AutoHotkey (https://www.autohotkey.com) to enhance Step7 in TIA Portal. The Keyboard Manager in Microsoft's Powertoys (https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys) is worth a mention to remap some shortcuts.

Using 3rd party apps is the only real way I could find to better the shortcuts. Some functionalities could benefit from a shortcut and there is none. You are a bit stuck if you are not authorized to install these apps on your work PC.

I ran across an open source keyboard remapper on github that might solve your particular desire.

The custom shortcuts available in Options -> Settings -> Keyboard Shortcuts are not working for you?
