If you have 2 Portal projects, 1 for PLC, and 1 for HMI, and want to join both PLC and HMI into the a single project, I tend to think the most direct way is to have both projects open at the same time with 2 instances of the same version of TIA Portal.

In the HMI project, click the HMI in that portal's project tree and DRAG into the project tree of the PLC project.

Then, fix the HMI connection so the PLC and HMI tags are synchronized, and any area coordination between the HMI and PLC will function correctly.

Of course, my knowledge is based on the non-unified (older) HMI project approach.  If the HMI "unified" approach makes the HMI connection somewhat different than the older way, please disregard that portion.

The reason I suggest copying the HMI project into the PLC project is that you only have 1 device to fix connections.  If you drag a PLC project over to the HMI project, you have networks and remote IO to copy over and configure, which is most likely going to reassign some different hardware IDs to various devices.  Any "hard-coded" logical addresses or HW_ID in the PLC logic could suddenly be broken.

FYI, that's another reason to use symbolic system constants for hardware device addresses / HW_IDs in PLC logic.

I have a project with 1200 plc and winc unified V17.

What would be the best way to resynch wincc unified portion of the project with the latest changes?

Is it as simple as coping whole HMI folder from the latest project and pasting to the master project?

Would all changes transfer that way or is that always better to integrate the other way - whole PLC project copied to the master which holds hmi as well?
