Therefore, it would be advisable to use the TIA Portal V16 to work with that CPU since you have it, I understand.

From what I see, it only works with V14, what problem exactly do you have with V16?

You can work in V14 as you are doing but simply selecting version 2.1 is not possible with higher versions. The only thing that limits you are the possible updates that the new PLC firmwares have, nothing more.
