Before you went full scale on the project, did it work correctly when changes were being committed to a LOCAL server on a LOCAL LAN where everything was in the same subnet, or at least within the same networking infrastructure?

If not, are you able to return the system to a state like that and prove it will work in the ideal case?  If you cannot get it to work in the ideal case, you have no chance getting it to work with all the additional layers.

It could be as simple as a blocked port on the VPN connection in either direction preventing full bidirectional communications on all required protocols.

Are there any non-routable protocols involved in any of the required network data transactions?  For example, network discovery of PLCs and other Profinet type devices is a non-routable protocol.

Hi all,

as you can understand from title I occur into a crash when I try to commit my changes during a check-in.
I have a local session without confilct and I'm trying to commit changes that I made on HMI. Mainly this happens when I have to commit a lot of changes.

I'm connected to the server through a VPN to a virtual machine where there's installed the server of projects. I can open the server project view and that's it.

Is there any solution to unlock this situation?

Installed software on Windows 10 Pro:

Open a version of the project that does not result in a crash. Now archive the project - which removes all the carry over objects you mention lingering around.

Now restore the archive.  No more hanging around old objects.

Update project as required to bring it up to date and check in.

There may be other tricks I'm not aware of, but it's what comes to me at the moment.

I explain better my scenario. That projcet server has always been running on a virtual machine in our company network. I was also able to check-in successfully PLC changes and HMI changes (when it's just about a few changes). Actually, I can download PLC and HMI succesfully from VPN.

My project contains 6 HMI, 1 master that has the connection to 6 PLC, and others that have the connection to 3/4 PLC.

Usually I make the changes to the master HMI and I overwrite the screens to the others. But it also happens that I correct the errors (wrong text list, wrong tag, ecc) on the secondary HMI and overwrite again the screen on master.

I'm just thinking, maybe these steps can bring in some inconsistency because I accumulate the deleted objects and the TIA system is not able to consolidate correctly the changes and crashes. 

The question is, is there any solution to unlock the local session? Because when this happens I cannot use the local session anymore. The only way is create a new local session, bring the changes (in the server project view) and hope that this not happens again.
