We have acquired a machine from China fitted with a PLC SIEMENS SIMATIC S7-200 SMART CPU SR30 (6ES7 288-1SR30-0AA0) and with a PLC SIEMENS SIMATIC S7-200 SMART CPU ST20 (6ES7 288-1ST20-0AA0).

We have to get access to the programs of the PLCs to modify them for our requirements but here in France, PLC engineers explained us that they can't have access to the programs of the PLCs as they can't get the software to do so, S7-200 PLCs being not sold here in France. When we bought the machine, we insisted to get SIEMENS PLC to ease maintenance here in France but out supplier never informed us that we wouldn't be able to operate these PLCs on our own.

We are in a situation for which we can't find any issue. Can you explain how to get connected to the S7-200 PLCs to access the programs?

This forum is manned by volunteers; users helping other users. I think what you need is to talk to Siemens directly. You can use the "Support Request" link to do so.

In your shoes I would have the supplier source you an English version of the software. The SMART product range features in (mainly) China and India. It includes HMIs and other wares too. Your supplier might not have known of this issue or was using his budget option.

The S7-200 SMART is a good PLC. It is the next generation after the original S7-200. I would buy it if it was offered in my market as a Siemens supported product.

As mentioned by qwazee  distribution of the S7,-200 Smart products is managed by Siemens India, for the South-East Asian market.

The software you need to program your PLCs is S7-Microwin Smart, which is described in the following link. The part number is given there, as well as a contact information for Siemens India. You should ask them for accessibility and pricing for the software.

I thank you for your prompt and detailed reply. We can't get the STEP7-Micro/WIN SMART from our supplier. I have contacted SIEMENS India without success. I have tried to phone several of their phone numbers and I can't reach anyone.We believe we are not the first French company to be in this situationa nd it's a real shame no one from SIEMENS France can help us.

Does anynone know where we could buy this software?

 Hello, did you get an answer on this? We are dealing with the exact same issue now, that we need to purchase the earlier version of STEP7-Micro/WIN SMART and then install the updates.

Our Chinese supplier has been on holiday and is also out next week. I tried to contact Siemans support but I dont have an id number or whatever. 

Did you successfully purchase the software?
