I've wrote a step-by-step guide to manually install Logo SoftComfort on Linux distros not based on SUSE / RHEL [openSUSE / Fedora].

This procedure works well on Debian Jessie and Debian based distros (Linux Mint Debian Edition, Ubuntu and its derivatives), and on Arch Linux and Arch based distros (ArchBang, Manjaro).

Thanks, I got LOGO!SOFT v8.3 running on Kubuntu 21.04 and Ubuntu mate 20.10 after using the installer on the DVD.

But it didn't open the settings window with the IP properties in local PC after clicking the gear icon.

after adding

$ sudo mkdir /etc/sysconfig
$ sudo mkdir /etc/sysconfig/network
$ ifconfig (to find out the name of the networkadapter (e.g. enp2s0))
$ sudo touch /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-enp2s0

It works, it shows the window, and downloading a program works.

It is easier to work with than the TIA portal.

Only thing is Siemens doesn't understand scalable fonts in the user interface of the tools. It is maybe available for the last 25 years in Windows/OSX/X11.

Hello, I was able to install LOGO Soft Comfort on a Linux Mint 64bit machine using the installer. I did run into the Ethernet port issue posted above and followed the previous instructions. I then created a launch button for LSC. These are my installation notes:

LOGO! Soft Comfort installation
Copy CD contents to a temporary folder under ~/Downloads
Locate .../CDROM_Installers/Disk1/InstData/Linux64/VM/Setup.bin
Use File Browser to change Setup.bin properties.
Select properties and change Permissions to "Allow executing file as program"
Can also use terminal and sudo chmod 775 Setup.bin
In terminal navigate to ~/CDROM_Installers/Disk1/InstData/Linux64/VM$ sudo ./Setup.bin

The network connection will be broken, create the following under root directory structure:
$ cd etc
/etc$ sudo mkdir sysconfig
/etc$ cd sysconfig
/etc/sysconfig$ sudo mkdir network
/etc/sysconfig$ cd network
/etc/sysconfig/network$ ifconfig (to find out the name of the networkadapter (e.g. enp2s0))
/etc/sysconfig/network$ sudo touch ifcfg-enp2s0

I used the disk installer and had to use "sudo" to get the installer to run. Everything seems to have installed and LSC is working but the only way I can run the web editor LWE is if I use "sudo" from a terminal window. I cannot get a launch button to work and the LWE software won't run as a normal user, only a superuser. I'm not super proficient with Linux to figure out what file permissions... I need to change to get LWE to launch and run as a normal user. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Bill

 If you are the only normal user on your machine, try from command line

sudo chown -R <yourusername>.<yourgroupname> </directory_where_LWE_installed>

example

sudo chown -R wwmo.wwmo /usr/local/lib/LWE
