Printer for S7-200

smf Experienced Member Joined: 5/18/2007 Last visit: 1/15/2026 Posts: 25 Rating: (0)	I would like to attach a label printer to a 224XP cpu that prints labels with serial number & date/time every time the machine has performed it's tasks. What would be the easiest way to do this? What i have now is the 224XP cpu and a Op73 micro. But i might need to have the serial numbers logged on a computer also so it might be good if the sollution involved a computer also if there is any not to expensive way to communicate with the PC

(If this is serial printer, you have to use the RS232 PC/PPI cable to connect the PLC). Look at tip19 or tip20 from s7-200 tips and tricks examples. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, be sure your printer supports DOS mode (ASCII code). A serial interface (RS232) is also requested. In the past some companies (Conrad, RSC, ...) had parallel-2-serial converters. But I do not know if such converter works well. A windows printer (WYSWYG) does not work because such printer do not understand ASCII charackters. If your printer supports DOS mode, then you can create a DB with Text and control charackters (LF, CR, ......) and send to to the pinter using the XMT-instuction in the PLC. I hope this helps

It only needs to print out a small label with serial number & the date/time.
