S7-200 EEPROM reset

ionut.b Bronze Member Joined: 1/17/2007 Last visit: 10/6/2020 Posts: 289 Rating: (3)	Let's assume the following: 1. write a simple program to put value 1234 in VW1000 (EEPROM) of the PLC; 2. download program to PLC and execute it: put value 1234 in VW1000 (EEPROM); 3. create an empty project and make a new download (OB1 and everything empty) over the last program; (not using Clear CPU); Question I: after this will I still find value 1234 in VW1000 if I look in Status Chart? 4. I write a simple program that sets M2.0 if value in VW1000 is equal to1234, else M2.0 is reset. 5. Put the above program (using another PLC) on a Memory Cartrige. 6. Insert Memory Cartridge in the first PLC (should have 1234 in VW1000) and boot. Question II: will the program find 1234 in VW1000 and set M2.0 ? Question III: is EEPROM cleared when booting from a Memory Cartridge? Hope I was clear. Thank you.

Beside, after the PLC's super capacitor and battery (if available) full discharged, the value of VW1000 will be 1234. For Q2: If you download the Data Block with value 1234 in VW1234 to the memory Memory Cartridge, after reboot the PLC, M2.0 will set. For Q3: Yes. If the Data Block was transffered from the Memory Cartridge to PLC, the Data Block in EEPROM are replaced and all retentive memory is cleared. You-win
