communication between s7 224xp and coin validator

The coin validator uses MDB protocol (multi drop bus: The physical connection is realized as an unmodulated serial bus with the data rate fixed to 9600 baud, and 9 bits in each data word transmitted). Would it be possible to use the CPU'srs 485 interface for communication between the validator and the CPU? There is aMDB - RS232 adapter on the market. I have a ppi-cable that transfersRS484 into RS232Wondering if it's possible. Pieter

The following link will bring you to a FAQ on S7-0200 Tips and Tricks, a collection of S7-200 typical applications. Download the complete file from the link at the bottom of the page. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1232912 Inside the files you will find sample programs where the s7-200 interacts with barcode readers and other serial equipment over the PPI cable, so at least you woill see how it is done. Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, S7-200 supports ASCII with 7&8 databits. Startbit, 7/8 Datbits, Stopbit, Parity. Double check if you realy use a device that uses 9 Databit. 9 Databit is not a normal communication protocoll. Regards Helmut
