Late Platinum Expert Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 11/17/2023 Posts: 2705 Rating: (318)	Hi Dimbas, Are you using Profibus FMS or only the cards CP5431 FMSand then with Profibus FDL? Which protocol do you want to use with the CPU 317, i presume S7 connection. Because the CP5614 is a Multi Protocol card it would be no problem to mix FMS and S7 telegrams. So program in your PC a CP5614 A2 and two Applications, one for FMS and define the VFD's directly so that you can place the S5 directly on the bus in Netpro. Please consider that you have to drop down in the speed because the CP5431 is not that fast as a S7 or the CP5614!! [:o] So choose "Universal (DP/FMS)" for the profil of the Profibus [:P] Also check the parameters with the S5 stations, this have to be the same parameters!! The S7-317 can be placed on the second Application. That will do the job... [;)]

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Dimbas, I think I understood your situation. Please let me explain a bit here. The CP 5614 has two independent Interfaces. The first one is capable of being a DP Master, FMS, FDL or S7 node The second one is capable of being a DP Slave. So if you want to communicate with an S5 and an S7 at the same time you will have to be careful what Protocol you want to use and with which interface. The CP 5431 or IM 308 can be DP Master on S5 side, but only the IM 308 can be DP Slave. The CPU 317 can be both, DP Master and DP Slave ( as far as I know [;)] ) So decide for yourself what you want to do. Best regards J_Bell

Late Platinum Expert Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 11/17/2023 Posts: 2705 Rating: (318)	Hi Dimbas, You may use for example the DP-slave port with the CPU317-2DP as a master, the CPU317 have two DP-ports {one can beswitched between MPI and DP}so the other DP-port can be used for a Master when you need that. The other port of the CP5614 A2 can be used as Profibus FMS or Profibus FDL port to the CP5431 FMS. The PC must be programmed again with two applications, one for the PB DP and one for the PB FMS/FDL.

Sorry I don't understand how to configure in NetPro this card. This is due to the fact that the second Interface will only work as DP Slave and not with S7 Functions or FMS. The configuration of the second Interface is as far as I know not possibel with Netpro. I am Sorry, but in this case you would better work with two CP 5613 A2 in your PC. [;)] Best regards J_Bell

There is a example on the Net, i have found it under ID http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/6167688 (Siem80b4.gsd seems to be the gsd-file for the CP5614 Profibus DP Slave port.)
