roxorhaxor Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hello. I Have S7-200 plc and dc motor. I would like to know what should i need for PWM speed control for my dc motor? Do i need any DSP, frequency exchanger, transistor or something else? sorry for silly questions.

A little difficult to give a good answer for you however. A solution start from knowing the core problem; it is not about making something work with components that you happen to have. Knowing what size DC motor you have will also help.. maybe it is a small stepping motor stripped off an old printer? (I intend no emotion of rudeness / sarcasm.) For a general DC motor you can change speed by changing the voltage. Power transistors can be utilised for this if you change the switching frequency on these transistors. A pulse generated from the S7-200 (up to 20kHz for Q0.0 and Q0.1) can be used as a "pilot" or reference for this. You could have used an analog output for this too. You will find much information and bacground on websites that handles DIY robotics (think fighting robots). They have do-it-yourself systems.. if that is what you hope for. You might try as reference "geckodrive" and RS-components for more ideas and ready made products. Without more background info I (& we) can not be of too much more help. roxorhaxor Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Thanks for trying to help :) Im a student and my faculty has a conveyor system with sensors and so on...conveyor belt is runed by DC motor 440-340 rmp 24v W09. So i would like to know how to programe pwm with ladder and do i need more equipment? Im aware that there are pwm outputs on s7-200 plc. Are there PWM ladder tips for s7-200? Well i was thinking about transistors..

The count of students get involved here is becoming more-and-more.. and most welcome. Do read the in-program help on the subject.. "Position Control Wizard" That will give you a good idea on how you could generate a pulsing signal (PLS) for a controller to do some speed/position control. In your case I can recommend using "POSx_MAN" function to control your speed via the pulsing signal. "POSx_MAN" function is generated for you when you fill out the "Position Control Wizard". This is one of the strong points of the S7-200 PLC. Do yourself a favour though.. Do not get lost in the details just yet. Get a framework for the solution of your "problem". Thereafter you can start filling in the frame with details. Let us know your thoughts if you need more help. -- and show us some of your own initiative. Good luck. w
