Direct IEC61850 Connectivity ( Without Gateway / DC RTU ) to a local HMI besides a IEC-104 link with Remote SCADA

I wants a Direct IEC61850 Connectivity ( Without Gateway / DC RTU ) to a local HMI besides a IEC-104 link with Remote SCADA. We had proposed a Redundant AK1703 Gateway in between the Relays and Local HMI / Remote SCADA. However the Customer wants that Local HMI should get data directly from the Relays. It is possible to use SICAM 230 as Local HMI directly communicating with the relays on IEC-61850 while simultaneously acquiring the data from Relays using a SICAM TM/AK1703 on IEC61850 and providing it to the Remore SCADA on IEC-104. Since the database for 230 is made in toolbox, there is no additional effort in the configuration. "how" this is configured, I have no idea. Mike

Never seen just a SICAM 230 with relays on IEC 61850. If this is possible, then why do people spend so much extra money on the TM/AK 1703 ? However when you say "Toolbox" I understand that you are talking about a TM/AK 1703. I mean can we remove the TM/AK1703 and just use a SICAM 230 with IEDs on 61850 ? Also you have not replied to my second query. Can an IED provide data on IEC 61850 simultaneously to two Clients ( Without any extra hardware ) Cheers Navnag.

Besides, connections to control centers over IEC101/104 and DNP and other protocolsare made from AK/TM. Why people connect 230 to AK and not to Siprotec directly, I don't know, but this is also an option. I never configured 230, but as far as I know you should have Toolbox to configure the communication channels on it. I don't know if this is mandatory or if you can configure 230 completely without TB. About your last question: I cannot answer for "IEDs", but Siprotes support up to 6 clients connected to them. You can connect, for example, redudant AK/TM and redundant 230 to Siprotecs. Mike
