The short of it is that the S7-200 does not handle negative values inside a byte. In the current development environment of TIA it is called a small integer (SINT). For the S7-200 there is only "USINT" or unsigned SINT. Before we go into details of what you can do.. why do you want to? w

Part of these I have made the assumption that you are reading a signed byte from a panel. There is some thoughts to how to handle this value inside the S7-200 PLC.
