bakerjw Posts: 126 Rating: (18)	I am assuming that the KTB DP device is a Profibus device. The RS485 port on the CM1241 does not support Profibus communications. With the release of V11 of the TIA portal and V2.0 firmware you will be able to use the CM1243-5 Profibus Master to communicate with DP devices. The part number is 6GK7 243-5DX30-0XE0

bakerjw Posts: 126 Rating: (18)	The CM1241 communication modules can communicate with almost any device that conforms to RS232 and RS485 standards. After connecting the device the issue is supporting the protocol of the device. USS and Modbus are supported by libraries and people have written their own protocol support functions for other devices. I an unfamiliar with the panel that you referenced and don't know what protocol that it uses. I would suspect Profibus because of the DP reference. Do you have a link to the devices specifications?

bakerjw Posts: 126 Rating: (18)	Good day. If your KTP1000 model has Modbus support then you can connect it to an S7-1200 PLC with a CM1241 RS485 interface module. You will just need to configure Modbus on the HMI as well as on the PLC. Based on your original description of it being a DP Basic panel, you will be able to use a Profibus DP Master CM module once they become available.
