My goal is to Simulate my KTP900 Basic Project and actually see the same thing as my clients see in the factory.

Fisrt I set my VPN network and I can ping both PLC and HMI wich are on the same Local network.

I can go online with my PLC and monitore and download my projects.

I can not go online with the KTP900, but I can download my project to it.

I tried to go online with the PLC and then start the KTP900 simulation, but I cannot acces any of my S7-1200 tags.

is it even possible to simulate with a KTP900 Basic remotly?

Hello,

is not really clear what you would do.
Simulation and remote monitoring are not the same!

With Simulation you can run you panel on the local PC to test it.
To do this with a real PLC on the network go to Windows Control panel -> set PG/PC Interface

For S7ONLINE configure the networkcard hich is connected to the PLC Network.
Now start the simulation.

remote Monitoring on HMI Devices you can do with Sm@rt Services on the SIEMENS HMI Panels.

Basic Panels cannot use Sm@rt Server functionallity. Only in Panels >=17X (with Ethernet Port) or on Comfort Panels.

Can you 'ping' your the PLC from your PC?

Perhaps the Ports that are used to communicate to the PLC is blocked in the firewall or Router.

It should work fine if you set it up as described by Christoph.

In your project with your KTP panel you can check the panel-plc connection what access point it uses.

This should be "S7ONLINE".

After you have opened your VPN connection to the plant, then go to Set PG/PC Interface and set S7ONLINE to point to the TCPIP of the VPN adapter (not Auto).

Then you should be able to start the simulaton of the KTP panel and connect to the real cpu.

I posted a request about the subject and I got told KTP900 Basic does not support simulation with access to remote PLC tags.

They suggested I upgrade to comfort panel familly.
