I mean, I have read a few days ago, that 1200 CPU Support STL (AWL) since FW 4.x.

Is that true or am I wrong?

Using TIA V13 SP1 I can NOT select STL for FW4.x.

Perhaps there is some misunderstanding at my side, does anyone have informations?

Sorry, but with V13, SP1 U5 it´s and S7-1200 >=V4 it´s not possible.

I will check this next month at the SPS IPC Drives 2015 in Nuremberg!

My findings are the same as yours.

If it would be possible,
it would be able to import
by using "External Source Files" but..

.. no such import is possible.

Maybe it is possible for the hardware,
but the software (TIA V13 SP1 Update 5) does not support it.

The System Manual for the S7-1200 FW4.1 also makes no such mention.

A few years back I was told that there was no plan to handle STL,
but they will do SCL. In TIA V11 we saw that SCL came as promised.

With the restriction of use of S7-1200 vs S7-300  AND  having SCL,
I see no point in having STL.

A type of GRAPH (as in FESTO branded PLCs) is however a much different matter IMHO.

I hated STL in Step 5 when I was forced to use it for FB's.  I welcomed SCL when it was introduced since it reminded me somewhat of FORTRAN and PASCAL, which were the only languages I had any training in.  I was hoping it was going to die.  I know there is a huge installed base of legacy programs, but really?

If I wanted to program in assembly language, I would still be using my Commodore 64 (which I still have and still works).

Just my opinion, don't kill me.

the Commodore 64 programmed in BASIC.
(It sure does bring back memories).

I won't be the one biting off your head,
but some tasks are better in STL..
especially when working with the Accumulators directly.

Mixing STL and LAD was very handy in S7-x00 programs.
I actually wished you could mix SCL and LAD in the same code block.
There are other brands that allows that..
much like the CALCULATE block in the S7-1x00.

Yeah, native was BASIC, but I had (have, condition unknown) a Hex Monitor cartridge that did 6502 assembly, which I preferred.  I wrote my university senior project (digital oscilloscope) with that.  Tough to program now, since my floppy drive is in unknown condition and you can't get 5 1/4 floppies anymore anyway.  I probably had a tape drive (cassette) at one time for program storage.  Wow, really dating myself.

But we digress...

That is probably just simply misinformation. The S7-1200 currently does not support STL as a programming language in any hardware or software version.
