I want to install step 7 microwin SP8 into my laptop with Windows 7 64 bits. I have downloaded the software from the site of siemens. when I launch the installation a window appear " search a file setup from the local reader" then another windows appear " Unable to locate a valid executable for update, you must select the directory where your previous version of Micro/ Win or Micro/ DOS is located"

what's the solution? there is an instructions for installaion?

Microwin 4.0 SP8 is not compatible with Windows 7 64bit!

You need SP9.

You have downloaded a update and not a full software. Get micro win full software install it and then run this update to upgrade it to service pack 8

probably you need have installed some version Microwin (4 and higher??) on disk. Without it installed you can't upgrade or installed new version due licensing. This is what I know, what I've done. Maybe some new installer doesn't required previous need installed version. As said Christoph, only SP9 is Win7 x64 compatible.

You do know the software is not for free - right?
If you have an old installation somewhere,
we can help you transfer to the other Windows machine.

In this case you can use the upgrade software.

Best solution would be to come in contact with your nearest Siemens dealer and let them help you with this matter.

I have never Installed Micro/win in my laptop before. it's the first time. the same problem is happen with another laptop windows XP SP3

 then order the full software setup from SIEMENS.

Only the Update are free for download.

The basic SW must be ordered!
