Drag and Drop Variables in Ladder

stuartr Posts: 34 Rating: (0)	Hi Guys, minor problem here, the drag and drop function of variables doesn't seem to work in ladder/fbd. It works fine in MCC and ST but not in ladder. Any thoughts (this isn't stopping anything, it's just painful having to type out myaxis.motionstate.state (for e.g.) every time I want to use a variable, rather than dragging it from the symbol list. jacek d Platinum Member Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 11/14/2024 Posts: 4791 Rating: (732)	Ask your Siemens rep for hotfix 6 for Scout. I heard it solves this issue. BTW, you can always right-click a variable placeholder and select "Symbol input help..." from drop-down menu. Slow but saves typing.

Where was HF1-5, or was that also on a top secret, need to know basis). And this is a known problem? Why isn't it on the FAQ's or forum information. Why does it seem that paying customers have to poke around in the dark with problems until they run out of patience and then someone says, 'Oh we knew about that, we only tell you when you ask!!!' Cheers Siemens And thanks again Jacek, this was just a little rant about the way Siemens do some things......

stuartr Posts: 34 Rating: (0)	Thanks Christoph, although I notice no mention of Hotfix 1-5. Does anyone know why these aren't made available through online download?? Make more sense to me. Also, I searched on my problem (and all previous problems) and couldn't find reference to it on the FAQ's forums etc, but (and there is no information about this in the release) it seems the problem was fixed in HF6 so someone somewhere knows about the problem but doesn't say 'We know there is a problem, please be patient, it will be addressed in the next Hotfix'. Just saying this is more helpful instead of hiding the problem and solving it with a Hotfix because people adjust their habits and won't try to use a tool if doesn't work, and won't try again after a Hotfix just on the off-chance it has been addressed. It's just a question of being polite and acknowledging a mistake has been made (we all make mistakes, no-one expects software to be perfect (just look at MS Vista), just tell us where they are, and we can avoid the holes or drive around them until they are fixed). Thanks for the info. Now here's hoping the disk comes with the relevant info about exactly what has been fixed.
