I am told a simple way to accomplish the "unbloating" of a portal project is to archive it, then restore from archive.

It only archives what is needed, without any undo possibilities or whatever else they store in there.

I too wonder why the projects get so large.

Project file size gets bigger by a lot and deleting all the devices in the project will even increase the file size!

I don't know what is causing this but I have an old project (named V1) 114MB in size, then I deleted all devices and saved it as V2. The project size is now 115MB. I DELETED ALL INSIDE THIS PROJECT BUT IT INCREASED ITS FILE SIZE!

Then I tried to create a new project named V3, copied all the devices from V1 to this new project. Reconnected the Profinet connections, compiled all, then saved it. I didn't touch any of the hardware settings and code.

The new project size is 22MB! I tested the code and it worked as it should! How could V1 get so big when it is originally 22MB worth of code?
