A CPU 6ES7 226 2AD23-0XB0has: 16kbytes for program if you want change your program in run mode. 24kbytes for program if you don't need change your program in run mode. and more 10kbytes for data (area V). More informations can be found in the catalog ST70 (www.siemens.com/simatic/printmaterial) or in the manual FAQ 11095582.

For instance, why we have more memory when we are programming in Run mode ? And more, if I change my program (V and M memories) in Run mode, when the power fall down these changed datas are missed. The M and V area are retententive like you configure in System Blocks, retentive ranges.
