Hi dear all

I just wanted to know is it possible (true or not allowed!!) to use Soft-PLC environment for building some kind of protective functions for example one for load shedding or not? suppose someone using comparative blocks to check if the summation MW of some bay exceed a threshold and then send some trip commands to some feeder using SoftPLC in ui configuration. is it legitimated or not?

it would be great if someone give me some essential guides about this.

The newest version of Siemens Soft PLC is the S7-1500S line, that can be run on an IPC environment, with standard/Safety programming software from TIA Portal. see the screenshot below for a basic introduction , taken from this manual:

Think of this lne of controllers as a PC-based PLC that can do everything that a regular PLC can do, including Falisafe (Safety) programming up to SIL 3, but with ODK functions that add the capacity of developing your own algorithms in C/C++, and also the interesting possibility of calling Simulink models (Matlab), as you can see in this application note
