I don't know what you do for living but it better not have anything to do with customer service or business management. AutoGen_8243178, The customer is always right is a metaphor for providing the customer with the absolute best product and service possible. How you go about doing that varies considerably from one project to another and on how close you are to the end client. There are often many departments, contractors, engineers or supervisors between the programmer and the end client and any of them maybe more rigid than the client itself. So, the approach I use when I run into a situation where the best coding solution is SCL (for example) while the client requires everything in ladder logic is to create a function block, and strictly follow the standards for error checking and reporting/return to calling blocks, thoroughly documented and maybe even protected it. It becomes like a siemens system function that I myself would use as a black-box, which is easier to pitch to the client or any of those in-between. Siemens programming styleguide has a very good information on code encapsulation and error handling. A final note on customer service, never ever say no to a customer. |
