VBA - Alt-F11 in the Graphics Designer gives you the ability to write VBA scripts to create and edit most things in your project including graphics, tags and archives. 2. ODK - Open Development Kit is an option for WinCC that contains an advanced set of C APIs. I would strongly recommend you use the first option as the second is an expensive solution to your problem. Automated object creation? This would be usefull to know, as then I will know what to serach for in the forum as well! Thanks for you help, mat

If using the search then use the search terms WinCC Object Model. If you then go to the Examples section there should be an example of how to create different types of objects. I know some help files are lacking but this one on the VBA scripts is very good Salma

matholton Posts: 37 Rating: (0)	Okay, it's looking good, so far - I've created the object, position them where I want them, changed their colour and data type & value. The only things that are missing are, handling mouse events linking the OutputValue to a Tag. On mouse Action on the original I/O Fields the little flash is lit up Blue and clicking it brings up a dialogue Called Direct Connection, where Property is selected (radio button) Object is 'This object', Property is 'Output Value' and Tag is constant for each of them. How do I do this in VBA? Again, cheers for your help - this will be over soon I hope... mat

From memory I think something like the following will get you started : Dim obj_object As HMIObject Dim obj_script As HMIScriptInfo Set obj_object = ActiveDocument.HMIObjects("object_name") Set obj_script = obj_object.Events(1).Actions.AddAction(hmiActionCreationTypeDirectConnection) ... If you do a search for AddAction and / or hmiActionCreationTypeDirectConnection it should give you more help. Good luck. Salma

matholton Posts: 37 Rating: (0)	Nearly done it, just a couple of issues. 1. each control needs to be linked to a tag - I haven't yet found how to do this. 2. I need to use the "Output Value" of the IOField - yet the I don't know the Automation value to choose. For instance, If I wanted "Position X" I woiuld choose Automation Value to be "Left". What is the Equivilent for Output Value? Then I'll be done... mat Edit: I must be tired: it's "OutputValue", without the space to set the Property "Output Value" can't believe I didn't try that straight away. '1' is still bugging me though.
