THANS CHITZ Perhaps TIA is good for newbies but not for professionals. Coming form S7- Classic, TwinCAT/3S, and VS you are absolutely right. Siemens seems to pretty oblivious regarding SW development and RAD. Estimates that the "time to market" increases with 20-30%....For HLL programming, thank god for NP++. The SCL editor just sucks... In addition the TIA software is sluggish, the CPUs seems to be slow, indirect addressing scheme inadequate...etc. etc. etc. etc. etc........ For LD and FBD lovers it might be OK though.... PS! SAG is pretty good with glossy paper, that much I can admit....

However the basic purpose of my having started this thread has not been served. I had requested any member who has visited Siemens Stall in HM16 and seen TIA V14 first hand, to share their first impressions about V14. It seems that either no member has visited HM16 or if they have visited, they do not wish to share their experience. Cheers Navnag

Denal Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	One thing, I use Simatic manager for business daily. I often need to work with multiple projects opened simultaneously, projects with multiple PLCs with sincamics drives and WinCC Flexible projects... If I try to open even 2 or 3 of these projects in the most up to date TIA portal... well I might as well say good by to my computer. Everything becomes completely useless and slow, it takes much much more time just to open a separate project in TIA, find what you need and copy it to another project. And just to mention, I do have a computer with 8GB or 16GB RAM, SSD drive and latest processors, and not even trying to run this on a virtual machine. So I think Siemens really screwed things up this time, maybe they thought things will get better after 5-6 years down the road or maybe they were thinking quantum computing will be mainstream by now :)

And rockwell hasn't integrated safety and HMI , yet, and software is already a dinosaur, compared to RSLogix of 2008... Chainging siemens mind and software is not possible. But we can hope that Intel makes some i9 , i11, ecc to support TIA :P
