I have one more question, could you guys please advise. In Sinamic S120 manual, i saw this introduce but i dont know why need to generate a DC voltage to power the Motor Modules. At first we have AC voltage then we use Line Modules to generate DC voltage then we use Motor Modules to convert to AC voltage. It is so complicate, right? Why dont use the AC voltage to control Motor Modules. Could you please advise? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Hello, I will try to answer in simple way. In case of AC induction motors, motor speed is varied by varing V/F i.e. voltage to frequency ratio. This V/F ratio variation is achieved by latest IGBTs power device modules with PMW (pulse width modulation) technology. To achieve this function, first input AC supply is rectified to DC voltage (converter) & then this DC voltage is converted to AC supply (inverter) of course variable voltage with variable frequency. This way AC induction motors speed change is achieved. In Sinamics or Siemens drives, AC power module which converts AC supply to DC is called as INFEED modules & modules which converts DC supply to AC (variable voltage variable frequency) are called as LT Power modules or Motor modules. For more information you may refer below manuals or you can search with Google. Variable frequency drives - Drive technology topics - GlobalSINAMICS Electric Drives | Drive Technology | Siemens USA |
