PC877 Recovery DVD

The OS (WinXP Pro SP2) configuration went fine, but at the end of the process it looked like it rebooted itself, without warning. Later I found one of those Windows recovery folders (Found000), but everything else looked fine. The OS came up, with full screen control and network connectivity. So went on to install WinPM.Net in it as we did with the previous 9 systems here. It went fine until I found it refuses to install MSDE2000. Finally gave up and decided to reinstall everything from scratch. Pulled the Recovery-DVD, put it into the drive and rebooted. It installed Windows 98 ran autoexec, and BUM! it just rebooted. No messages, no nothing. After working a bit withit could manually ran the autoexec file, and find it fails to install the RAM Disk, therefore the whole installation fails and goes back to reboot. The log files, if any are supposed to be installed in the RAM Drive, so they are lost. The DVD label says: Restore-DVD 1-1 03/2006 Panel PC 877 - english (MUI) SET A5E00749251 A5E00749263 WXPiSP2 SATA RAID DVD-V1.6 Is there any later version that I can download? Looked into the product support area, an couldn't find anything. Rich

None of the loaded. Your Recovery DVD indeed loads Win98 in order to run Norton Ghost, which is used to load the images on the DVD into the SATA array. The reason is not explained anywhere in your documentation. It is caused by a mismatch in the signatures of the mirrored array. It looks like those signatures (or the drive labels, I was told) are checked in the DVD loading process. The way to solve the issue is rebuilding the mirrored array. The DVD then loads without problems. My suggestion: Your documentation regarding the mirrored array is lousy. It needs a deep rework. The manufacturer's documentation is not better. Rich
