Look at the following attachment, it is from the 505 System manual, and shows the pinouts of the communication ports on the front of the CPU. The manual is available here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1937087 If you need more information on the 505 series of PLCs, simply Search for "505 manuals" in the search box at the top right of this page. If I remember wel, we used a standard null-modem cable to connect between the COM1 of the laptop and the 505 Port 1 for programming.
