You are likely to to need expertise in the topics listed below when setting up and running an Industrial Edge System.

Expertise:

1. Networking
   • IP addresses
   • Gateways
   • Firewalls, ports, Protocols
   • DNS Server
   • NTP Server
   • If necessary, proxy server and certificates
2. Virtualization
   • VMware Workstation / ESXi Server
   • Network configuration (Bridged, NAT, virtual network)
3. Industrial Edge Management
   • Edge infrastructure

   • Onboarding and configuration of Edge Devices and Apps

Components:

1. Virtual hardware in VM Workstation / EXSi Server
   • Minimum 2-4 cores; Productive 4+ cores
   • Minimum 12 GB RAM; Productive: 16+ GB RAM
   • Minimum 150 GB memory; Productive 600+ GB memory
2. Network requirements
   • IEM requires an Internet access (not permanent but may be advantageous)
   • IEM requires a static, immutable IP address
   • No termination(!) Proxy which replaces the certificate
   • Enable NTP server in the network or UDP port 123 for internal NTP server
3. Industrial Edge Devices (IED)
