I am currently seeking advice within the forum regarding a program conversion from Micro/WIN to TIA Portal. This conversion is part of our software migration process before replacing the S7-200 with the S7-1200. I have a few questions, and I would greatly appreciate it if forum members with experience in this area could assist me.

In Micro/WIN, there is a VB memory, and I'm not entirely sure about its purpose and usage. Could someone please explain its function to me? I am considering replacing the VB type with "memonto," but I would like some guidance on this.

Additionally, there are blocks in the existing program referred to as SBR. I am wondering if these should be replaced with FB or FC blocks, and if so, what is the reasoning behind this transition?

The pointers given by @ixo65 is worth looking at. In there is detail that you have not even identified yet to ask about. Hopefully you have a simple program to convert. Frankly, get someone that knows both platforms if you do not have enough time to study the S7-200.

Some comments about what you asked:

The S7-200 uses M-memory and V-memory for bit/byte/word/dword storage. The S7-1200 has far enough M-bits, so all the bit memory can be ported to M-bits. Strictly speaking the V-memory is a fixed size datablock. The "textbook" recommendation is to port all the V-memory to S7-1200 datablock(s).

SBR is for subroutine. An FC (S7-1200) already delivers the functionality of an SBR (S7-200). The only issue is that the SBR carries no memory like an FB (S7-1200) does. The SBR therefore uses global resources such as M-memory and V-memory. Your new S7-1200 program may want to break away from the old methods, so you may choose to use FBs with local instance as memory.
