I'm totally new to technology objects and all. Question is:

Why in V2.0 I can explicitly choose if my encoder is connected to drive/TM/Profidrive and in V4.0 it's not possible?

I need to setup my tech-obj with a profidrive encoder but in V4.0 the resulting scheme has only the drive connection. it's confusing.

Sadly I already consulted that documentation. I'll try to make things clearer. I posted a zip file with 2 screenshot, marked v2 and v4. In v2 you can see that i can easily select my encoder connection type, while in v4 is not possible. It's the same hardware configuration, same drive, same encoder, same plc and same network.

Question is: Will it work anyway?

 But to answer the original question: Of course this will work.

I remember in older versions you had radio buttons to first choose the type of hardware to connect to, then you could pick the device to connect it. Then the behavior was changed a little, so you only had to pick the device / telegram / channel. Basically this is what the screenshots of the OP show.
