How to connect to s7-200 from a laptop?

bbaghery Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi I installed the Microwin v4.0.0.81 on my laptop and I want to connect it to s7-200 PLC chipset. The program in the PG/PC interface section only has two options which are wireless adaptor and cable network port. Is there anyway to connect my laptop by the mentioned ways? Or the only way is to use the profibus adaptor? Thanks

You can search for it at the product support page. Drivers are included in Microwin install, so you might need to reinstall. Regards, Marcjan

ford50killa Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	hello, I am trying to connect to the cpu of a S7-200 through a USB to Rs232 cable. I am using Step7 Micro/Win Version 4.0 with a service pack 9. It is a S7-200 CN with a 224CN CPU. I had problems with my ports at first, now i have that under control. However now that i have the corect ports assigned, it keeps giving me an error of RPC server unavailable. do any of you know what this could be? can any of you give me some ideas? this is my first time using step 7. im use to RS Logics or Automation direct products. ford50killa Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	I am using XP, and I have a brand new version of Step 7 Micro/Win SP9 single license bought by my company. this is my first time using Siemens. I was using just a over the counter usb to RS232 cable and someone has told me it needs to be a Siemens made cable. Is that correct? If so, do you have a part number so I can order the correct cable? I am use to using RS Logix and Automation Direct software. I am new to the Siemens world. I have attached an image of the cable I was trying to use. Thanks for the advice. Look to this topic, Daniel posted great info about compopnents, that USB-PPI MultiMaster cable can be your way. You can also buy some China brand converters on ebay, they are cheap but functionality is lottery. I recommend buy Siemens product, call your Siemens Office near you for other support.
