SB 1223 DI/DQ 200kHz 5V, input current?

jipsi Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	What kind of current from power supply (im planning on converting 24v->5v with http://www.tracopower.com/fileadmin/medien/dokumente/pdf/datasheets/tra3.pdf ) for supplying this signal board? I cant find it in manual, only current consumption which is 15mA/input+15mA. Im afraid that it will break if I dont use any resistor to limit the current. Or can I just take that 24V from my 1212C AC/DC/Rly, connect it to that DC/DC converter and connect it to SB 1223 without any worries? Or do I even need any outside power supply? I have a electromagnetic metering pump (EWN-R) and I want to use external pulse signal to operate it. It uses maximium 1.8mA at 5V. Again, can I connect it directly to SB 1223 output without worries or do I have to limit the current so the pump wont break? I was thinking of using MC_MoveVelocity to get smallest amount of pulses possible. I configured Axis to have Start/stop and maximium velocity of 2 pulses/s, not sure AT ALL if that will work but I hope for the best.

Sorry I'm not familiar with what you intend to use but certainly something like phoenix contact 2966728 will do the job and it mounts easily on DIN rail. Check the pulse connection wiring diagram in the manual to match diagram on the side of the optocoupler. As an alternative, consider using 4-20mA pump input with SB 1232 AQ. I find it easier to program than frequency but this is a personal preference. Hope it helps, Adam.

But what I meant was that I need 5V DC to supply that SB 1223 module, and to do that I would take and convert the voltage from 24V DC output in 1212C CPU. Or does that module have 5V DC output when I just connect it on top of my 1212C cpu? That I dont have to have external power supply? The wiring diagram of SB 1223 indicates that it would need 5dc input, or do i read it wrong? There is a picture of wiring diagram here: http://i.imgur.com/RQeiM.png I was browsing through different photocouplers and there is one thing im not really sure of. What's the difference in input and output SSR modules? I mean do I need input module if I want to take that 24V DC from my 1212C CPU and connect it to the input module which would convert the voltage to 5V DC? Or is it the otherway around? I mean this https://www1.elfa.se/data1/wwwroot/assets/datasheets/hfG3R-I-O_data_e.pdf I/O classification, input or output module. Or does it matter?

I believe you need to supply 5VDC power to the signal board as shown on the diagram. I checked your pump manual. Does it accept 5VDC input for pulse signal? So what would be the best way to supply that 5V DC, use that 24->5v converter linked above or some kind of SMP? What kind of current does that SB 1223 take so I know what kind of resistor I need, is it that "Current consumption (SM Bus): 35mA" or "Current (max.) 0.1A" which are in manual

Regards, Adam. Thank you! There is still a question about how to do the wiring correctly. Im not sure if i fully understand it. I made a little picture about it, is this the correct way? I dont want to break anything. Are you sure I dont need any resistors to limit the current? Im really not sure about the wiring, why cant I just connect that 5V DC directly to SB 1223, what meaning does that optocoupler have on that system? And that phoenix contact 2966728 is also optocoupler and not just SSR? I think i just misunderstood something when browsing through that datasheet. So it does act like opto and transfers that 5v pulse signal to output (pump side)?

Consider using Siemens power supply LOGO!Power 5V/3A 6EP1 311-1SH03 and series 3TX7002 interface relay. Page 60 of the catalogue (link below) shows what I think may be a suitable choice.
