in212576 Posts: 56 Rating: (7)	Hello, I need your suggestion regarding Hart transmitter communication with Honeywell AMS system. Customer is having Honeywell FDM R430 & wanted to communicate with hart transmitter so, which configuration & what type of hardware & software licenses will require to work on it? In my project customer is using Honeywell AMS (FDM R430) which will be on Ethernet. Attached automation configuration for the project. Thanks in advance. Regards, Ashish Wandhare

Honeywell's FDM is licensed software, so it has to have the appropriate license added before it'll do anything. The spec sheet for FDM says that "FDM uses unmodified vendor Device Description (DD) files", so you'll need the DD file for the DSIII. The question is, where does that come from? FDM might come with a library of DDs to start with, because Honeywell is a HART Foudation member, so they have access to them. But whether that's the case is a discovery exercise. In looking at the listing of downloads for the DSIII, there are numerous EDD files, a HART EDD for AMS, another HART EDD for Siemens PDM all of which claim to be DD's. It isn't clear how one determines which to use . . . Presumably your front end hardware, the analog inputs, are HART passthrough compatible, as is the system behind the front end, to enable the software to read the devices via HART. No HART passthrough, no data via the HART protocol. If you're using Honeywell's Experion, then FDM will be right at home. A quick scan of the manual shows that FDM apparently works with 3rd party HART multiplexors or 3rd party software. In any event, any software intended for integration into a DCS will be a project as to its installation, connection and operation. in212576 Posts: 56 Rating: (7)	Hello, Thanks for your detail replay. As per FDM manuals they support EDDL & DTM technology . Could you tell me the DD & EDDL are same or different. Yes i am using front end siemens module ET200M &ET200 isp modules which having Hart enabled I/O modules which will communicate on HART protocol & ET200M & iSP is on profibus which communicated with PLC. But can i communicate with FDM on same profibus platform or i need to convert into ethernet? Do honeywell can access the Hart transmitter via our ET200M & ET200 Isp modules? What is the meaning of "If you're using Honeywell's Experion, then FDM will be right at home"? FDM apparantly works with 3rd party software then they can access siemens HART transmitter with DD files,Is it correct? Waiting for reply. But it appears that it can run as a stand-alone application, as well. The FDM spec sheet says, "With FDM, fully configure, calibrate and diagnose any HART, Fieldbus or Profibus device from any vendor. FDM uses unmodified vendor-created DD files (for HART only) or DTM based software plug-ins for performing all these functions with the device." Another note says, "Profibus device configuration is supported only through DTMs. Qualified Comm DTMs current include PMD, T&H xEpi, Softing FG100 and Brad USB. Qualified Gateway DTMs currently include Siemens ET200M, Siemens DP Link/DP-PA Coupler, P&F SK3, and Phoenix Contact. Unqualified Comm, Gateway and Device DTMs need to be qualified with FDM. Versions of Qualified PMD tools and qualified device DTMs will be documented in the software change notice." It isn't clear to me whether gateway access through the Siemens listed devices means that the instruments behind them are directly accessible by FDM or whether individual EDD/DTMs are needed for each brand/model of instrument. The spec sheet's listing of devices includes no field instruments, so maybe a connection through a ET200M or a DP Link/DP-PA coupler will provide a connection. Interpretation of the instrument data still needs some type of device specific file, though. It might be that FDM comes with a library of DTMs that includes a Profibus DTM for the DSIII, who knows? The attached word doc shows a screen shot of the communications files available for the DSIII on the Siemens site. You can see that there is an EDD file, a HART Sitrans DTM file, which I know works with Pactware software, circled in red on the attachment. But when the list is sorted for Profibus, there are two Profibus EDD/GSD files, both for Siemens Simatic PDM software. There is no DTM file (What FDM says it needs) listed for Profibus. I had some discussion with TH- Link engineer about this configuration & he informed that “TH DTM Library comes with DTMs for TH LINK, ET 200M and ET 200 iSP.I’m not sure if FDM can use 3^rd party CommDTM as access point to PROFIBUS. So,I want to confirm from you whether Honeywell supports Third party commDTM as access point to profibus. I will check with siemens regarding DTM files for the SITRANS P DSIII.
