The header part of the page only makes sense when a user is logged in.

For me the header feels like clutter. My personal preference would be to not have this section when I am casually browsing (read: not logged in).

It would be nice if there was a tick mark for "My topics only" under the New and Unread options. Yes I know the filter can be used, but it would be nice to have a quick option on this page view.

so while filtering forum threads your main focus would be to set the filter on threads you participated allready? As it is provided within the my Forum section via My topics?

My message was not understood. I was making 2 points.

(1) A more compact view when not logged in.

(2) Additional quick selection.

To explain point (2) in pictures:

When user "qwazee" logs in and use the "My Topics Only" option
..it would work the same as:

It took me 30 minutes to find a useful link to show my favorite conferences, unread, and then I stared at an option that allows me to refresh the list. I did not find one.  Well, F5 works in my browser.

I used to be able to click the apply button after selecting the 2 options (my conf's and unread), and it would update.

Would you kindly put the apply back?

Also, since I do not see myself using most of the other options very often, perhaps allow us to customize the presented options, similar to how TIA Portal can expand all networks, or squeeze them down.

(3) Who falls under the list of "favourite users"?

Assume "user123" is blocked to sending me private messages. But "user123" is now also registered as my favourite user when making the above option.

(4) It is not user friendly to make a list of conferences that should be on the favourite list. I was trying to add Step7 (TIA Portal). The popup list did not even offer something when I started typing. But starting with "TIA " was recognised.

(5) Does 'only' really mean 'only'. Please consider not using the word 'only' as the options are not mutually exclusive. It is acceptable to just say "Favourite Users" as a filter option.

(6) Strange choice of keywords. I would never have guessed what 'wizard' is for if I did not use the option. I wonder if anyone looking for something specific would know to use that keyword.

Were are you missing the option to reload? At the Box Topics on the Main Page? Or at the separte Page under Topics within the classic navigation?

Expect the filter page for highlighted topics every option to filter still exists. I'm sorry that it wasn't intuitive to you

My suggestion is, under Topics, header filter selection keys should get hide once the forum member selects his/her filter keys, i.e. it should not be displayed all the time. 

When forum member/user want to change filter selection. he/she can select filter button, keys should be displayed & filter keys can be changed.

In my browser (am I the only one using a web browser to access these forums?), I have a "home page" setup with many tabs.  My old "home page" link to the forums worked absolutely perfectly, at least until a few days ago when the forums abruptly changed filtering.

Here's what I suggest for future abrupt changes to any site, browser-based or app based:

1. Inform users changes are coming weeks in advance.
2. Inform users the types of changes to expect a week in advance, persisting up to the day of the change, being shown once after the first login of the day.
3. First login of the day of the change, a "how to do what you did before" getting acquainted to the changes overlay appear (a standard on-boarding type of thing).
4. Links to provide feedback and ask for assistance doing things users used to do, perhaps with an FAQ with screenshots of _before_ and _after_.

As others have said, the filters should not be ever-present, especially for users not logged in.

And, no, I have not found the "Apply" or "Reload" option to activate when these "only" checkboxes are selected.

It is perhaps an English translation problem, but "only" options should be radio buttons rather than checkboxes.
