Can someone explain how the settings in the following monitoring window in Simotion works?

As per my understanding, if the following error becomes greater than the maximum permissible value, the drive/axis goes to following error state.

Not exactly. Error is reported when the following error is greater then the permissible error calculated for the actual velocity.

Below the minimum velocity the permissible following error has constant value (independent from velocity). Above the minimum velocity there's a  linear interpolation made using the maximum velocity and the maximum permissible error.

Of course it is always possible to set the minimum velocity = 0 and the error constant value = the maximum permissible error.

We had a situation in one of our machine that the setpoint position in the axis object(basicMotion.Position) and actual position from the drive deviated more than 100mm and when the axis got enabled the physical motor tried to match the setpoint position with maximum speed. We want to avoid that kind of situation in future. How to avoid that?

How to make sure that the axis goes to error state when the following error is greater than 2mm(maximum deviation between axis setpoint and actual position must be less than 2mm). Will the below settings work?

Check for such a high discrepancy BEFORE enabling an axis. And do something about it. Or prevent the machine from going into it.
