I have been uploading the programs and backups from our plant in the event of a need for replacement and haven't had much of an issue until this most recent problem.
I have primarily followed this guide to get everything, hardware, program blocks and network included: In STEP 7 (TIA Portal), how do you load the "Program Blocks" with the PLC tags and... - ID: 41885693 - Industry Support Siemens
This has worked just fine until running into a "6ES7511-1AK02-0AB0" version 2.9 running on TIA portal v15. What I immediately noticed is that TIA Portal v15 doesn't have a CPU version 2.9 for the above device or an unspecified device. Using the unspecified device method from the link above I was able to locate and connect to this CPU but that is the end of progress. It reports "Incompatible" for the modules and parts that it pulls up when connecting. I have attempted doing this with TIA portal versions up to 18 with no difference, even though starting at 17 the program does have the proper CPU version of 2.9. Every time however it gives me the "Incompatible" error.
My most recent attempt was downloading the hardware updates for TIA portal v15, the entire package. It made no difference, still "Incompatible".
I would appreciate any direction or advice on how to move forward with this issue, thanks. |

Take a look at the TIA Automation Tool. It is very useful for retrieving complete (not editable, but restorable) backups.
