I do have a USB-IDE convertor but not an USB-SATA covertor and the harddisk is SATA. So i am going to get such a convertor. Thanks for this idea. Cheers

The HP Probook 4730S, was flattened and Win7 re-installed. Lo & behold we have experienced the same problem. Took a logical approach on this install:- Step 7 Pro SP2, installed ok. WinCC Comfort & Adv SP2 installed ok. WinCC Pro SP2, caused the BSOD. Have logged a call to Technical Support UK & waiting a call. Regards Jon

rrautane Experienced Member Joined: 12/29/2011 Last visit: 8/22/2024 Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	Hi, there seems to be a incompatibility with HP keyboard filter driver HpqKbFiltr.sys and Siemens keyboard filter drivercortkbdrtmwdf.sys. Old Siemens drivercortkbdrtm.sys worked fine with HP driver. New Siemens driver combined with HP driver will cause a bsod. As a workaround suggested by Siemens technical support I uninstalled HP quicklauch button software and all Hp keyboard drivers. I then reinstalled both Step 7 Professional V11 Sp2 and WinCC Comfort V11 SP2. Now everything is working ok. Interestingly even HP quicklauch buttons work fine with standard windows drivers. It seems HP keyboard drivers are unnecessary at least with HP Elitebook 6930p.

Unfortunately I was unable to repair Windows so I had to install it again, after saving the license keys.After installing Windows 7 I installed WinnCC comfort V11 SP2 but again there was a problem. Windows started but my keyboard did not work at all so I could not log on.I could repair Windows this time to a repairpoint I made before the install. Then I did what Siemens suggested and removed the HP driver.After a new installation of WinCC now everything works fine.So indeed it looks like the keyboard driver is the source of the problem. I have a mobile workstation HP Compaq 8710w

If you can boot to windows, here are some directions how to remove drivers. You can uninstall HP quicklauch button software from control panel if you have it installed. Keyboard drivers can be uninstalled from Device manager. Here is a pretty good tutorial how to do it. http://www.tech-forums.net/pc/f127/removing-driver-within-windows-7-using-device-manager-246852/ Disregard the Nvidia part... Remember to check "Delete the driver software for this device". You may also need to force windows to show disconnected devices to be able to remove all keyboard driver instances. Directions here: http://www.petri.co.il/removing-old-drivers-from-vista-and-windows7.htm Check before and after driver uninstallation whether you have HpqKbdFiltr.sys attached to your keyboard driver from driver properties. When uninstallation is succesfull, windows will install its' standard keyboard driver and HpqKbFiltr.sys is not attached to it. There may be also other keyboard devices which may or may not have that Hp driver attached. You must uninstall all of those which have it. BE WARNED! If you do not know how to do this right DONT DO IT! You can mess up your computer pretty badly when removing drivers. Do backups first! Ask if you need any more info. I'll try to answer.

And how to re-install it (or a new one) ? I'm not sure and I don't want to crash my computer. My laptop is HP ProBook 4720s, Windows 7 pro 32bits. Thank you for your help ! You can remove driver by pressing uninstall in properties window (I'm guessing it is Désinstaller in french). Remember to mark checkbox to remove also driver files. After reboot windows should install standard PS2-keyboard driver. If hp driver file is still listed in driver properties, repeat the procedure. (Sorry about my english I'm Finnish ;-) )

If yes, I think I will lose all the 6 drivers (Windows\system32\drivers\cortkbdrtm.sys, fwkbdrtm.sys, HpqKbFiltr.sys, i8042prt.sys, kbdclass.sys and wdfcoinstaller01009.dll) ? Is that right ? Thanks

In my experience system restore will work fine in 99% of time but there is tiny chance for data loss. Better be safe than sorry. That driver is the right one to remove. Windows will automatically install standard driver to replace it. There should not be any reference to HpqKbdFiltr.sys in the new driver.
