mbtoy Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Dear All I'm going to prepare winder application,where wound material is tube and acceleration/deceleration rates are really small .Only one feedback from dancer position and Simotion drive system(D435). I don't need to take care about Moment of inertia(small acceleration). In example application of universal winder there are a lot of possibilities that I will never use and that application is really complicated. The question is: Is PI controller to control the rotation speed of winder with feedback from dancer and Kp adaptionwill be stable enouph?Where is my fault? Thanks in advance

DenisMor Posts: 344 Rating: (50)	The control using the PI (or PID) only is not an optimal way to control the winder. Ideally, The speed setpoint is derived from line speed, modified from diameter calculator. The PI controller at that point only compensates for disrturbances. The are a number of options of winder control: 5 tension control modes, 6 diameter calculation options, 4 taper tension options. With taper tension being optional, tension control method and diameter calculation is based on the application and hardware used. What do you mean by the universal winder? DenisMor Posts: 344 Rating: (50)	Yes, I am suggesting calculating rotational speed setpoint based on the line (web) speed and actual diameter. Closed loop speed control (PI) in Sinamics, utilizing motor encoder, will maintain setpoint speed. It will compensate for disturbances in the web. You indicated that you have a dancer with the position encoder. There is an additional position loop (PD) implemented in the winder block that will use dancer position feedback to maintain desired tension in the web. I suggest looking at section 11.5 "Direct closed-loop tension with dancer roll using speed correction" in the winder documentation. It has a good, if somewhat busy, diagram of the process. I believe 2.1 is the latest version of this manual.
