Omron Encoder not reading.

So I took a leap of faith and started to learn electrical theory etc. As I spoke to someone about Automation Controls and really took a interest into it. I am coming from a mechanical background and everything is pretty much new to me. I am new to learning controls and have been practicing on a Siemens S7-1200 PLC kit.

My question is I am wiring a Omron encoder and having trouble with it actually reading and having the inputs count. The input is on but the count stays at zero. I have enabled the channel one for the HSC I also set the type of counting to count, operating phase to A/B counter, and the initial counting direction to count up. My how and low limits are at 15,000 high -15,000 low, I also have a watch table set up but it stays at zero.

I need help as I want to make sure it's wired right and that the settings are set correctly. I've tried everything and I am completely stumped to be honest.

Please excuse the wiring job as it is something I did quick before I clean it up and make the trainer after writing the logic.

Hello,

First type encoder model, now in manual there are some types of encoders with NPN or PNP output with power supply 12-24 or 5 VDC.. or others.

So first of all type encoder model.

Second try check in configuration if you enabled HSC see which DI configured maybe you not connected to these inputs? Later go to DI properties and there choose input filter from default 6.4 milisec to 0.4 microsec or try to see video about HSC
