Storing and Restoring of the Industrial Edge Device State

To store and restore an Edge Device state, the IE State Service should be installed in the IEM-OS.

Part 1 - Storing an Edge Device state:

1. Click the "three dots icon" of the Edge Device for which you want to store the IED state from Industrial Edge Management (IEM) UI > Edge Devices.
2. Click the "System Commands > Backup" command and enter a description for the backup. If you already have stored an IED state of this Edge Device, the previously saved backup of the IED state will be overwritten.
3. Click “Store”.
   You can check in the “Job Status” whether the backup is completed. All stored IED states are listed under “Backups”.

Hint:
App data and IED specific settings will not be stored. In addition to the method mentioned above, IPC Edge Device (hardware devices) can be stored with the help of Industrial Edge Service Stick. Documentation about Industrial Edge Device Service Stick is available in SiePortal.

Part 2 - Restoring an Edge Device state:

1. Click the "three dots icon" of the Edge Device for which you want to restore an IED state.
2. Click the "System Commands > Restore" command.
3. From the drop-down list, select the "IED state" which backup you want to restore.
   The backup description of the stored IED state is displayed below the drop-down list. You can also use the stored IED state of a different Edge Device for the target Edge Device. When performing a restore, the Edge Device will be automatically cleaned up. If an error occurs during the restore, the Edge Device will be cleaned too.
4. Click “Restore”.
