Watchdog undestanding??

kanan Posts: 133 Rating: (2)	Dear All, as I know in hardware configuration in the slave properties we can highlite watchdog function and this meens if slave will not get signal from master after sicle time exceed it will go to safe mode. But I do not know do we wright some programme in plc and how it actualy working? Also I do not undestand how encoder (for example)can go to safe mode?))) Thank you.

Sydney Gold Member Joined: 1/4/2008 Last visit: 12/22/2025 Posts: 703 Rating: (98)	Hello, you don't need any programm code in the PLC for this (because it's when the master doesn't communicate with the slave so any code wouldn't help). It is just a safety issue for the outputs of the PB slave, normally all outputs are set to "0" or a substitute values and it isn't related to inputs. Regards Sydney

This is related to PB slaves when the master doesn't communicate, the slaves are switched to its safety mode. The HOLD mode is the mode of CPU for testing, timers are paused and so, but in this mode is possible to change the inputs and outputs. Regards Sydney
