Hi, I am programming a CPU S7-1500, with S120 multi-axis drives controlled by CU320-2 Control Unit. One of the axis is a servomotor that must be used as a TO_PositioningAxis with an external encoder (linear ruler) which is a DRIVE-CliQ device. I found the documentation related to this case : https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109793754 But I don't really understand all of it. After struggling for the whole afternoon with this documentation and TIA Portal, I still have things that I do not get : - What is the goal and the use of the "TO_ExternalEncoder" Technology Object (§2.4 of the doc) ? I don't see any link from/to this TO with anything... It's either missing from the procedure, or there are some pre-required knowledges that I don't have maybe ? - In the "TO_PositioningAxis", we must link the drive to the Telegram 106, that's OK. But What about the Encoder setting, what should I do ? The document is skipping the details of it, but it's not obvious to me... I hope to catch some experts attention, because I definitely need a hand of this case. Thank you, Nicolas |

Hello, this is not the right example for your problem. You do the configuration with Tel. 106 to get the external encoder value to the CPU. Then you can configure a Positioning TO with the external encoder. With a S7-1500T, it would be possible to configure motorencoder as encoder 1 and external encoder as encoder 2 and do positioncontrol with encoder 2. 5.2.4.5 Using multiple encoders (S7-1500T) https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109817884 |
