SIL3, Sinamics S120

Martinus Posts: 8 Rating: (3)	Hello, I want to ask for Safety category of the sinamics s120, especially CU320. How can I get SIL3 category, if I have to use sinamics. The SET is displaying only SIL2 for this as maximum. In my opinion, sinamics is checking safety signal by two channels - one via CU320 and second via MotorModul EP signal. Also he is monitoring interruption of theboths wires(24V+ and M also).Then he have to be satisfy SIL3 category. Or? Thank you for answer.

How can I get SIL3 category, if I have to use sinamics? Hello Martinus, At the moment it´s not possible to reach SIL 3 with the S120. There is no certification acc. to SIL3 IEC 62061. Thereasonis theSIL CL requirement of the new standard. S120 has a SIL CL of 2, which limits the whole SIL value to 2. But it´s possible to reach Cat 4 in acc. toEN954-1 if anadditional contactor is used. The product managment works on this topic and asolution is in progress.

By thelink in our last post, you can download the description how to reach PLe and the according report of an official test center. You can map the PLe onto the SIL value by the PFHd value.
