Hello SIOS forum community. The use of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is only allowed for remote maintenance of WinCC clients. Furthermore, no server services (e.g. Web Navigator Server, Data Monitor Server, OPC Server) may be active on these computers. The reason for this is the handling of Remote Desktop sessions by the MS Windows operating system. Under certain circumstances it may happen that these server services are started again and thus twice by using an RDP session. An error-free function of WinCC can then no longer be guaranteed. Furthermore, data may be lost if the remote desktop connection is interrupted, e.g. by pulling the network cable at the remote desktop client computer. In this situation among others the archives and the OPC-Server will not receive any values from the data manager anymore. If nevertheless a RDP connection to a WinCC station was used temporarily, this should be restarted afterwards. This concerns both the computer with WinCC engineering software and with WinCC runtime software. A runtime restart is not sufficient. Starting with WinCC version 7.4, scenarios for the use of RDP have been tested and released for the case that the WinCC server or the stand-alone system run in WinCC Service Mode. In this constellation, communication via OPC can also be used. Attention: The use of the Web Navigator is also NOT permitted here. This access may only be done by console takeover. See also section "Remote Access and Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)" in the "WinCC V7.5 Installation Notes / Release Notes". The use of the VM-Ware console (vSphere Client) is recommended in this case or the alternative via VNC & pcAnywhere: see also application example "WinCC Virtualization". https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/49368181 With kind regards SIMATIC International Technical Support Hub |
