Hello simaticmanager; While I have not had the opportunity to work with foxboro systems, I have set the MM440 as a Profibus slave to both Controllogix (Prosoft CP) and GE Fanuc masters. The configuration of cyclic telegrams of the MM440 has been setup as a series of PPOx (Profibus Process Objects, I believe), of which there are 5. They are described clearly in the following manual, chapter 3: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/6586565 The simplest PPO to choose (at least for testing) is PPO3, which only reserves 2 word addresses for the exchanges between the master and slave, the first for the Control word (bits controlling the drive, start, Stop, Jog, CW rotation...), the second for the speed reference. For your test, insert a MM440 slave in the Foxboro configurator, select a PPO3 telegram structure, and select peripherical addresses or the 2 words retained. In the second outputword, write a hex value of 4000 (this will be max. sppeed configured; 2000 is half-speed, 1000 is quarter-speed...). Then in the first output word, Control, write a hex value of 447E, then 447F (bit 0 of the Control word must see a rising edge, or a 0-to-1 transition for the drive to start). The drive should start accelerating to max. configured speed. The corresponding input words will show you the Control Status (state of the control bits) and the Seed status (actual turning speed of the motor, as seen by the drive). Further reading of the proposed document will show you how to use the other PPOx to collect data from the drive, and also the mechanisms to change parameter values through Profibus (using the so-called PKW addresses).
